Get To Know Our Team
Dr. Jamie Laity
Veterinarian
Dr. Laity knew from a very early age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. In her lifetime, she has been privileged to share her heart with 9 cats, 6 dogs, 3 horses and 1 quail!
Dr. Laity grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and after high school, moved to Lexington, KY to pursue her passion for horses. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky (GO BIG BLUE!) and then promptly moved to Athens, Georgia to earn her DVM at UGA. While at UGA, she found her love for small animal practice and decided to pursue a career as a general practitioner.
As a veterinarian, Dr. Laity spends much of her time focusing on preventative medicine – helping your pet live its best life. She also enjoys surgery, dentistry, and practice management. Her biggest sense of satisfaction comes from interacting with clients and making a positive difference in their lives and those of the animals they love. Dr. Laity is Fear-Free Certified.
Dr. Laity’s fur family is always growing! She initially came to Charlotte with two cats. In the last four years, her family has grown to include two cats (Bridget Jones and Fitz Herbert,) three dogs (Koda, Barley, and Layla) and two horses (Daenerys and Drogon)!
Between work and her own pets, Dr. Laity finds time to learn new hobbies and take on as many DIY projects as she can handle! She enjoys traveling and loves to experience different parts of the world. She has found a new interest in landscaping and trying her hand at water sports on Lake Norman. Her guilty pleasure is all things chocolate!
Dr. Melissa Keck
Veterinarian
Dr. Keck grew up in middle Tennessee and spent much of her childhood around animals. From raising puppies and adopting feral cats and dogs, to helping feed and pasture cattle, Dr. Keck acquired a love and passion for animals at a young age.
Dr. Keck acquired her Bachelors in Agriculture with a focus in Animal Science as well as her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee, graduating Cum Laude in both. During her clinical year as a vet student, Dr. Keck had the opportunity to participate in a veterinary mission trip in East Africa, an experience that changed her forever. She learned in a new way how caring for animals also expressed a care for people. Following graduation from vet school, she moved to New England and attended Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, where she graduated Cum Laude and earned a degree in Intercultural Studies.
Dr. Keck has spent the past 15 years in Boston with her husband and 4 children, where she has practiced small animal medicine and surgery in a variety of animal hospitals. She has a keen desire to help cultivate a positive working environment and create an attitude of lifelong learning for staff. With an affinity for animal behavior, Dr. Keck enjoys caring for patients in such a way as to eliminate fear and anxiety during their hospital experience. This is one of several factors that led Dr. Keck to join the team at Harbor Point Animal Hospital!
Dr. Keck lives here in Mooresville where she spends time with her family (husband, 4 kids, domestic shorthair cat, a Doberman Pinscher and a Frenchie). She loves kayaking, hiking, writing poetry and playing guitar.
